Description

Plymouth Pilot P16

Bay Ranger is a traditional P16 offering an excellent opportunity to acquire one of the smallest and most manageable boats in the Plymouth Pilots range at an attractive price. Finished in navy blue with a white bootline and complemented with Iroko ringdeck and seating, she has the simple, traditional appearance that suits the P16 particularly well. She does require some cosmetic attention, principally repainting the hull internally and externally. For someone prepared to undertake the work, there is a great deal to be gained by the additional investment.

Approximately 10 years ago, Bay Ranger underwent a substantial renovation at Percuil Boatyard. The works included replacement floor bearers and engine beds together with new timber gunwales and seating. Her stainless steel fittings are individually made rather than standard production fittings, making her one of a kind.

At a similar time, she was fitted with a new Beta 12hp two-cylinder diesel engine. The engine has recorded only 46 hours since new. More recently, Bay Ranger has benefitted from a new Iroko rudder and tiller. Her propeller, propeller shaft and cutlass bearing were replaced during winter 2025. She was last antifouled at Easter 2025 using International Tiger Extra and has remained out the water since. Timber components have been regularly maintained and protected with UV wax.

During previous seasons, Bay Ranger was kept on a swinging mooring on the Percuil River, with the boat stored ashore under cover from October to April each winter.

Her layout is simple and practical, with slatted forward seating (no lockers), a single aft seat and bulkhead. Viewings are highly recommend and are by appointment only. To arrange a convenient time, please contact office@plymouthpilots.co.uk or call 01752 482588.
